Elon Musk and Shivon Zilis welcomed a new addition to their family earlier this year. Although details about the baby’s name and gender have not been disclosed, this marks Elon Musk’s 12th child and his third with Zilis, who is an executive at Neuralink, his brain implant company.
The news of the birth surfaced recently through media reports, prompting Musk to clarify that the arrival was never intended to be kept secret. Speaking to Page Six, he emphasized, “All our friends and family know. Not issuing a press release, which would be odd, doesn’t mean it’s a ‘secret’.”
The birth was initially revealed in a Bloomberg article titled ‘Elon Wants You to Have More Babies’, highlighting Musk’s concerns over declining birth rates globally. At the time of the Bloomberg report, Zilis chose not to comment, and Musk did not respond to inquiries about the newborn.

Previously, Musk and Zilis welcomed twins, Strider and Azure, in November 2021, shortly before Musk and alt-pop singer Grimes had their daughter, Exa Dark Siderael, via surrogacy. Grimes, who is the mother of three of Musk’s children, including X Æ A-12, Techno, and the newborn, addressed recent media coverage concerning their co-parenting arrangements. She shared a post requesting privacy for their children and expressed her respect for Zilis, emphasizing their mutual desire for their kids to grow up together.
Musk has been vocal about his support for larger families, stressing the importance of maintaining population levels amid declining birth rates globally. He highlighted that many countries are already below the replacement rate of 2.1 children per woman and expressed concerns about the long-term implications for civilization.
